Eligibility Criteria for Anganwadi Worker

For the post of Anganwadi Worker / Sangini, the candidate must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Only women candidates in the age group of 18 to 37 years are eligible to apply. The candidate should also be a resident of the electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located. The name in the voter list of that ward will be treated as proof of residence.

The minimum educational qualification for Anganwadi Worker is 10+2, and the maximum qualification allowed is graduation. Candidates with qualification higher than graduation will not be considered for the Anganwadi Worker post. Selection for Anganwadi Worker will be based on marks obtained in 10+2, and the selection will be made purely on merit.

Eligibility Criteria for Anganwadi Helper

For the post of Anganwadi Helper / Sahayika, selection is restricted to the electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located. Women candidates aged 18 to 37 years are eligible, and the candidate must be a domicile of J&K.

The minimum qualification for Anganwadi Helper is matriculation. However, if no matriculate candidate is available in the ward, then candidates with qualification not less than 8th standard may be considered. This makes the Anganwadi Helper post useful for 8th-pass women candidates, but only under the condition that no matriculate candidate is available in the concerned ward.

Selection Process

For Anganwadi Worker, selection will be made on a merit basis using the marks obtained in 10+2. If there is a tie in merit, the candidate with higher age will be preferred. The notice also states that if an eligible candidate is available within the family of a retiring Anganwadi Worker, that candidate may get an additional two percentage points.

For Anganwadi Helper, the selection is limited to the same electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is situated. Candidates must meet the domicile, age, residence, and qualification conditions mentioned in the official advertisement.

Documents Required

Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for document verification with original documents and self-attested photocopies. The official notice mentions educational marks sheets, date of birth or matriculation certificate, domicile certificate, and unmarried certificate wherever required. Candidates must also bring two recent passport-size colour photographs and one original photo ID proof such as Aadhaar Card or Voter ID Card.

Application Process

The application process is offline. Candidates need to fill the prescribed application form given in the notification and submit it to the concerned ICDS / POSHAN Project Batwara office before the last date. The form asks for details such as name of POSHAN Project, Anganwadi Centre, post applied for, candidate name, father’s name, husband’s name, residence, ward number, contact number, date of birth, age as on 01 May 2026, academic qualification, and attached documents.

Candidates should carefully check the Anganwadi Centre name and ward before applying because local residence is an important eligibility condition. Applications submitted after 13 July 2026 may not be accepted.

Important Points for Candidates

Candidates should not treat this as a general open vacancy for all areas of Jammu & Kashmir. The posts are linked with specific Anganwadi Centres and electoral wards under POSHAN Project Batwara. For Anganwadi Helper, 8th-pass candidates may be considered only when no matriculate candidate is available in that ward.

Applicants should also make sure that all documents are correct. The notification includes an affidavit requirement stating that documents submitted must be correct and not mismatched, duplicate, scanned wrongly, or false. If any document is found incorrect, the candidature may be cancelled and action may be taken as per law.
